Hot Water Recirculation

Hot Water Recirculation — Hot Water the Moment You Turn the Tap

In most Citrus County homes the water heater sits far from the far bathroom — so you run the tap for a minute or more, dumping water and money down the drain every single day. A recirculation pump keeps hot water moving through the loop so it arrives in seconds. Flat-rate install, quoted first.

01The Problem

A minute of waiting is gallons down the drain.

In most homes the water heater sits in the garage or at one end of the house, and the far bathroom is at the other. Every time you turn on the hot tap, you run the water — and wait — while a minute or more of cold travels through the pipe. That's water and money down the drain, every shower, every day.

The Wait

A minute or more at the far tap, every time — while the hot water travels from the heater to the fixture.

The Waste

Gallons of clean water dumped down the drain every shower, every day — water you paid for and never used.

The Cost

Water down the drain, energy re-heating what you ran, and the frustration of a cold shower 30 seconds in.

02How Recirculation Works

A small pump keeps hot water moving.

A recirculation pump keeps hot water moving through the loop so it arrives at the tap in seconds instead of minutes. There are options for new construction (a dedicated return line) and for retrofit — under-sink or pump-at-heater systems that don't require running new dedicated lines through finished walls.

Dedicated Return Line

For new construction — a dedicated return line forms a loop, and the pump at the heater keeps hot water circulating so every tap is seconds from hot.

Retrofit (No New Lines)

For existing homes — under-sink or pump-at-heater systems that use the cold line as the return path, so you don't open finished walls to run a dedicated line.

03Who Benefits Most

Larger homes, far heaters, cold-shower families.

Recirculation pays off fastest in homes where the wait is longest — larger homes, homes with the heater in the garage or at the far end, and families tired of a cold shower 30 seconds in. If you're running the tap more than a few seconds every morning, you're the customer.

Larger Homes

More pipe between the heater and the far fixture means more wait — and more water wasted. Recirculation closes that distance.

Heater in the Garage

When the heater sits at one end of the house, the far bathroom is the worst-case wait. A pump fixes it without moving the heater.

Cold-Shower Families

Tired of a cold shower 30 seconds in, or kids burning through the hot water before it arrives? Recirculation makes hot water instant.

05FAQ

Straight answers.

Yes — recirculation works with both tank and tankless water heaters, with the right pump for the system. On a tank heater, the pump keeps the loop full of hot water so it arrives at the tap in seconds. On a tankless unit, a compatible pump brings hot water close without triggering the heater to fire every time. We size the pump to your heater and your home.

It lowers your water use — you stop dumping gallons down the drain waiting for it to warm up. The pump itself draws minimal power and only runs when needed (many systems use a timer or a motion sensor so it's not running all night). You save water, you save the wait, and the power cost is small.

Most installs are done in a few hours, flat rate quoted first. Retrofit systems that don't need a dedicated return line are faster; a full dedicated loop in new construction takes longer but goes in during the build. We scope your home, tell you which system fits, and quote the price before we start.
